God, help Your children not to give Your glory to another or Your praise to an idol for You are God alone. By Your Spirit help us to show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, and honor the governmental leaders. Help us to pray for all people, even the political leaders that we do not agree with.
May we not be divisive or quarrelsome about political earthly leaders. But may You give us grace and wisdom to navigate these days in a way that puts Jesus on display. We long to please You the God who wants all men to be saved. For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, (1 Timothy 2:5-6). Forgive us for engaging in political posturing and arguments that have alienated us from sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with those who think differently on politics than we do.
In these politically polarizing days, help us not to put our trust in governmental leaders or political parties. May our trust be only in You who can be trusted not only for this life but for eternity. Give us wisdom and help us to make Jesus and Your eternal Kingdom the issue on each and every occasion.
Use us to take the hope of Jesus to people regardless of their political affiliation. I ask that you would even open doors and use us to bear witness for Christ before those in authority. Help us not to be intimidated by people and their positions but to fear You the Sovereign King of the universe. May we not think that we need the favor of earthly leaders to advance Your Kingdom and in doing so compromise our witness for Jesus. For there is no political leader or party that can save people from God's wrath and give people eternal life. Only King Jesus can do that. Amen!
