The right to life is the belief that every human being has the right to live and not to be killed by another. It is often spoken of when it comes to laws for the restriction of abortion access in order to protect the lives of preborn babies in their mother's wombs. I believe in the fundamental right to life for preborn babies that brings about physical life and not death. For those of us who are followers of Jesus and consider ourselves pro-life let us continue to stand against the shedding of innocent blood in our nation. Yet may that never get in the way or take precedence over proclaiming Jesus, the One who shed His innocent blood, to save people from spiritual death that they may have the forgiveness of sins and eternal life through faith in His name.
Please take a moment to read a prayer that I journaled before speaking at a Right to Life event.
Father, in Jesus' name, I know that in and of myself that I am ready or able to fulfill the assignment that You have given to me. I know that I am not needed or necessary to show up or to speak only You are. So, I am thankful that Your holy presence has gone before me, that You are already at work ministering to hearts, minds, lives, families, churches, communities, cities, states, nations, and generations. And You have already prepared me to partner with You in Your eternal purpose even as it pertains to this event. You have filled me with Your power and entrusted me with the great privilege to carry Your presence and Your Word to those You are sending me to. Do not let me go to give a presentation or a speech but send me there to preach Jesus.
For the greatest right made available to human beings is the right to become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Apart from that people are born to die (experience eternal separation from God because of sin). God, thank You that You have made it possible for people to be born again (receive new spiritual life) and be given the gift of eternal life. Though the thief (satan) came to steal, kill, and to destroy lives I am so glad that Jesus came that we might have life and have it to the full. I thank You for sending Jesus, the Son of God, in human flesh so that through His death on the cross He might destroy the one (satan) who holds the power of death.
God, since this is the case do not let my primary focus be on the following: the lives of preborn babies and others who are treated unjustly and denied their rights of life; laws to protect their lives; the debates about the rights of women and men in unplanned pregnancies; or even the needed healing for great multitudes who are broken and hurting from abortion. May my focus be on Jesus, the image of the invisible God, the One through whom each and every person is made. It is only through faith in Jesus that people are reconciled to You, have life and the ability to truly value life as You do, and administer mercy and justice as we walk in Your righteousness.
God, I ask again that You anoint me by Your Spirit to take Jesus to those You are sending me to and not myself. If there are any among those You send me to that do not know You then I ask that You save them. May each and every person that stands for the right to life know You the only true God and Jesus Christ who You have sent for this is eternal life. Give us a heart for You, the Source, Author, and Creator of Life, above all else. Help us by the Spirit to love You with everything we have and all that we are and to love all other human beings as we love ourselves. May this be true even of the preborn babies in their mothers' wombs, for those who are contemplating abortion, those who have had and experienced abortions, our lawmakers and political leaders, and even those who oppose us because of our love for You.
Move us to confess and repent of our sins and bring revival to the body of Christ. As You revive us use us to take Your life and Your love to all those You send us to in the places where You have called us to represent You in the earth. May we glorify Your name, partner with You in building Your Kingdom, and do Your will on earth as it is in heaven, In Jesus' name, Amen!!!
