God, You Are Faithful To Fulfill Your Plans For Me! (Prayer Journal 45)

Holy Father, in Jesus' name, I thank and praise You for Your sovereignty and faithfulness. God, You are the all powerful, all knowing, independent One who declares the end from the beginning. You are not a man that You should lie and neither are You the son of man that You should change Your mind. You will do all that You have said and You will bring to pass all that You have purposed.

God, the trials in my life and the circumstances in the world are so beyond my ability to know all that is going on and what to do. At times I feel so powerless, completely overwhelmed by my feelings of inadequacy, and just wanting to disengage and quit. God, I know that I am not needed or necessary - only You are. Help me to run and hide myself in You. You are my Rock, my Refuge, my Shelter, and my Strong tower. In You I find rest and strength for my soul. Bring me to the place where I am focused on You and not on the trials and circumstances.

O God, help me to trust You and be faithful to You regardless of what it looks and feels like in my life and in the world. Jesus, You are the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. As You have been faithful and used Your people in desperate times in the past, You will do so in our generation. God, thank You for the stories of Joseph, Moses, and David in Scripture.

  • How many times did Joseph have doubts about the vision that You gave him as a youth in his father's house after his brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt and he was placed in jail under false accusations? Then in an instant he was summoned by Pharaoh to interpret his dream and went from being a prisoner to the Governor of Egypt. He would then see the vision fulfilled as You used him to save his family, which would become the nation of Israel through whom the Savior of the world Jesus would come, from famine.

  • How many times during his 40 years in Midian had Moses given up on the idea that he would be a deliverer of his people from their slavery in Egypt? Then You showed up and revealed Yourself to him in a burning bush while he was tending sheep calling him to be the one that you would indeed use to deliver Your people.

  • How might David have conceded that he could no longer trust You to protect him from King Saul in the wilderness as he ran to the Philistines to find safety? Not knowing that in a short while that You would bring about Saul's death using the Philistines and he would indeed become the King of Israel as You promised when Samuel anointed him. He would later be given the promise that the Messiah (Jesus) would be one of his descendants and You would establish His throne forever.

God, You seem to have this pattern where You test Your people to see if they will trust You to do what You promised even when everything in their world looks the opposite of what You promised. You make the circumstances in our lives impossible for the promise to be fulfilled unless You, the Almighty God, bring it to pass. Help me to trust what You've planned and purposed through my life and in the world not wavering but moving forward with great dependence and confidence in You. For apart from You I can do nothing yet I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

God, You know the plans that have for my life and this world. And You will fulfill Your plans in Your time, in Your way, and for Your glory. God, I know that You do not need me but yet You love me and want to use me to partner with You in Your eternal purpose. I confess that I do not know what to do so my eyes are upon You. Please show me what to do next. Yet do not let me be preoccupied with You using me. Bring me to the place where You, only, are my preoccupation and my delight. Jesus, help me to walk in intimate fellowship with You as You reveal, manifest, and speak to others through me.

God, may it be said that the Lord was with me as I trusted You in the difficulties, hardships, trials, troubles, uncertainties, chaos, confusion, division, and dark days in which I lived. By Your Spirit empower me and my brothers and sisters in Christ to not grow weary in well doing knowing that we will reap a sure reward if we do not faint. Until then help us to give You thanks and praise for great is Your faithfulness Lord unto us. In Jesus' name, Amen!
