God, I am so tired of looking and sounding submitted to You when more than I want to admit I am going through the motions. It is easy to look like I'm living for You before people even when I know in my heart that I am not fully surrendered to Jesus.
It is like I go into the River of Your Presence but only as far as I am comfortable with the current and depth. When the waters begin to seem too fast or be too deep then I turn around and head for the comfortable shore of worldly pleasures. I say that I want more of You until life gets beyond what I feel that I can manage. No matter what my lips say, my actions scream that I want the temporary pleasures of this fallen world more than I want You the Living God. And that should never be!
Do whatever You must to break me loose from everything that keeps me tethered to the shore. Help me to cut the anchors, get rid of the rescue boats, and even burn the ships so that I am fully immersed in Your River. May I die to me so that I may truly live for You and Your glory alone. Cause everything in this world to grow strangely dim and lose its luster in light of Your glory and grace. Bring me to the place where I surrender all to You the One who gave everything for me when You gave Jesus. Whatever I lose in the process is infinitely lesser than the treasure of infinite value that I've gained in Him. In Jesus' name, Amen!!!
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Me." (Mathhew 16:24)
